Does the Garden City Police really “Protect and Serve?” Garden City, Idaho has a population of about 12,000 people – just outside Boise. Is this small town so crime-ridden that they have no time or are they simply incompetent?
Garden City Police Department says they are working with me to Arrest Tammy Sweeden for Attempted Murder and Theft in gold/silver plus other valuables.
Crime Investigator, Detective Winter, of the Garden City Police Department, boldly struts into my hospital room to interview me.
- I was shot by Tammy Sweeden on the morning of May 14, 2012.
- While in hospital, I was in pain and I was heavily medicated. I had a bullet hole in my chest plus another incision was made in my chest to drain the fluid from my chest cavity.
- On about May 15, 2012, the Garden City Police, Detective Winter shows up to interview me.
- Detective Winter asked me a few questions.
- He asked me about my sex life and also wanted to know about a certain talk show host. He asked me why I had cash in my bedroom. He also asked me about all my gold receipts. I asked him why are my gold receipts are so important. According to Detective Winter, it could mean MOTIVE for the attempted murder. We discussed my owning gold/silver and it was in kept in my home.
- I noticed Detective Winter has a habit of rolling his eyes like a little teenage girl.
- We also talked about how I was shot. Detective Winter explained I was shot in the chest with a small .25 caliber gun. I explained that I had not seen that gun in almost 2 years. Tammy told me she left it in a storage unit in Las Vegas, NV.
- Detective Winter said, so, there would be no reason for your fingerprints to be on the gun. I said, “No, my fingerprints should NOT be on the gun at all.”
- Forensics came back and said MY fingerprints were NOT on the gun, which also means the shooting was an attempted murder. NOT an attempted suicide.
- The only person who had access to the gun was Tammy Sweeden. I had loaned it to her almost 2 years before she shot me. However, she secretly hid the gun in my townhouse for 7 months.
- The Garden City Police Department treated my home as a crime scene. They confiscated all my legal firearms. Detective Winter said, we took all your weapons but will return them in a couple of weeks.
- Lead Crime Investigator, Detective Winter started a two-week vacation the next day after interviewing me in the hospital. I had no way of reaching him. I left several messages for him without a response.
- I called Sgt Compton for assistance. I asked him NOT to allow Tammy any access to my house, due to the valuables I had inside. I seldom would leave Tammy alone at my house. I didn’t fully trust Tammy, however, Sgt Compton said there was nothing he could do and would NOT keep Tammy from entering my house anytime she wanted. Sgt Compton said Tammy had got all her things and left town.
- At this point, Detective Winter of the Garden City Police Department allowed Tammy Sweeden to go free and escape with over $300,000 in gold and silver.
- Why would Detective Winter, with all his experience, decide to allow the most probable person who could have shot me to leave town?
- For several weeks, I was ignored by the Garden City Police Department. I was treated as a non-person. I returned home from the hospital after a 7-day stay.
- I walked into my home, “alone” without any protection plus my house had been completely gone through by the police. The police confiscated about 26 personal items from my house.
- I asked the Garden City Police department if I could have just ONE of the weapons they removed from my home for my own personal protection. They denied my request and would not allow me ONE of my many firearms.
- Four weeks had passed since I was shot. I was living in fear that Tammy or someone she could hire would come to finish the job. I was living day to day trying to recover from my gunshot wound. I was weak and vulnerable without a single firearm for protection.
- My trauma doctor discovered my chest cavity was filling up with fluid and fluid had dried on my lung. He recommended lung surgery. I was in the hospital for another 5 days.
- I returned home even weaker than before and with twice as much pain. My finances were dwindling down. I wanted to move somewhere I could feel safe.
- I knew Tammy Sweeden had shot me. I even called her from the hospital and told her that I know she had shot me.
- I wanted the evidence to prove Tammay Sweeden was guilty – however, the police had no desire to work my case.
- On or about July 6, 2012, I move from the house. Trusted friends opened their house to me so I could help recover from my surgery and to provide a safe place to live for a while.
- About the last week of August, 2012, Detective Winter informs me that they may be closing the case soon.
- The first week of September 2012, I decided to provide my own video testimony, online for the world to see plus provide a full website telling my side of the story.
- I called Detective Winter – left a voice message. I explained that I was going to create a website and provide my story.
- The website went live and Google had indexed many of the pages. On or about Sept 19, 2012, Detective calls me and leaves a message.
- It had been over 120 days since I had been shot and robbed. I finally persuaded the Garden City Police to give me a detailed interview. I wanted to provide some facts that would be needed to prove the case. I was excited to finally sit down and talk with him the following week. (Sept 25, 2012)
- I waited for 6 long days to finally speak to Detective Winter. Finally, Tuesday, Sept 25, 2012, is here. I wait all day long for his call. No call.
- I called and left 7 voice mail messages. On Sept 26, 2012, I called the Garden City Police Department asked them to please contact Detective Winter and ask him to call me.
- Finally, Detective Winter called and said he never came to my town. Detective Winter now says the matter is out of his hands. He said his superiors are having a round table meeting and will discuss the next plan of action.
- Detective Winter said he will contact me and let me know the outcome of that meeting. I waited and waited. No word.
- It’s been 15 months now since I was shot and robbed by Tammy Sweeden. I have not heard from Garden City Police. I believe they intend on keeping my personally owned firearms that they removed from my home. They have my contact information and they have forbidden me to contact them. The Garden City Police Dept has all but ignored my situation and also victimized me by NOT keeping their OATH to “Help and Protect” the community they say they serve.
- Residents and Business people in the Garden City area have expressed sympathy for my situation. They ALL said Garden City Police department is known to be corrupt and not always honest with the community.
Chief James Bensley – Removed several personal and legal heirlooms (of my deceased father) from my home and will NOT return them. Value of more than $3,000! Is he corrupt?
Would you TRUST the Garden City Police Department to protect and serve you?
