Readers of my blogs write to me all the time. I invite people who’ve been a victim by a predator to write to me and share their story.  Here is another story sent to me by a “reader” and I hope this experience will provide additional reason to be cautious.

Dear Readers,

Our names are Bob and Nancy.  We’re a retired couple and live in a peaceful retirement community.   One day there was a knock on the door.  A young woman was holding a basket full of flowers – she was offering to sell a bundle to us.  She was so sweet. 

While the door was open, three men rushed in and grabbed my wife and I. They said, “be quiet and you will ive.”  The men were dressed in street clothes wearing surgical masks and stalking caps. 

We Were Scared . . .  A Home Invasion

They placed my wife inside the bathroom and closed the door. They also placed me in the batroom in another part of the house. They warned us not to move.  We were scared and did what we were told.  (Thank god they did not tie us up or hurt us.)

When we heard them drive away.  I went to my wife and gave her a big tight hug and asked if she was OK.  She said, yes, I’m fine.  

The thugs robbed us of all our credit cards, jewlery and stole all my firearms. Shotguns, rifles and hand guns.  I used to be an avid hunter.  

They also stole our cell phones.

We used the neighbors phone and called the police – they rushed to the house.  We explained the situation, however, we could not give much identity.  They wore masks and gloves during the home invasion.

By the sound of their voices – they were young men.  I’m 6-1, they were smaller men with an accent.  Could have been hispanic.

The robbers told us not to move for an hour or they would be back to kill us.  The police said, yes, this gave them time to use your credit cards before they were cancled. 

Before we could cancel the cards – they charged over $2,000.  We estimated they stole about $40K in jewlry and my firearms were valued at well over $5,000 dollars.  

Many people are badly hurt or are killed during a home invasion.  We are very lucky indeed.

Be safe out there.  There are many “Devils in Disguise!”
